Film: Back To School (1986)

Before you get ready to dig into your classes next week take a look back at this classic comedy starring stand-up comedian legend, Rodney Dangerfield. If I remember correctly Rodney plays an extremely wealthy middle-aged father, who tries to re-connect with his estranged son by attending the same university. Back to School also stars Ironman's Robert Downey Jr., Rocky's Burt Young and comedic loudmouth legend, Sam Kinison.

Music: Rihanna VS Beyonce

Rihanna released the new video for her single "Cheers" the same day that Beyonce released the video for her single "1 + 1". Both records are very different. "Cheers", a feel good party record and "1 + 1", a heartfelt ballad (some may think she is speaking of her relationship with Jay-Z in in the lyrics of this tune).

Following Beyonce's pregnancy revelation at the MTV Video Music Awards, all eye's are surely on her right now but take a look at both works and let us know which one you like the best.

Causes: My Fellow American

Here is a great film that hopes to offer a different perspective on Muslims/Islam than what is normally portrayed: Mooz-lum (Evan Ross, Nia Long, Roger Guenveur Smith, Dorian Missick and Danny Glover). The Director (Q) happens to be the brother of a very good friend of mine. Maybe we can get him in the Purse & Pulse studio for an interview- next time he's in NYC! Q, what's up!

Film: Hobo With A Shotgun (2011)

One of my friends posted a trailer to this film on his facebook page--so I had to share it with you. It reminds me of a Robert Rodriguez type B movie loaded with violence, blood and guts...except with an angry, vigilante hobo. Rutger Hauer, of BLADE RUNNER fame, stars.

Food: Spice Up Ya Life!

Cardamom -- Sexy—that’s the best way to describe this versatile spice. I love its sweet, warm, subtle and aromatic flavor. It adds an exotic kick to drinks and desserts. Cardamom also has medicinal benefits that include improving digestion, blood circulation and strengthening the heart. Try a little in cakes, muffins or cookies. Add a pinch to warm apple cider or a chilled Mango Lassi--a traditional, yogurt, Indian drink. (see recipe below).

Mango Lassi (serves 2)

Ingredients

1 cup coconut milk based yogurt

1 cup of almond

1 cup chopped mango

1/4 cup agave nectar

A dash of cardamom

Directions

Mix ingredients together.

Serve chilled.

ENJOY!

Fashion: What's NEW is OLD and what's OLD is NEW!

Peace pulsers!! Its your favorite sneaker heads favorite sneaker head! Just wanted to step outside the box today. Its come to my attention that people today really overly concern themselves with "what's new?" What's new is old and what's old is new! All these sneakers as well as fashion is just a revamp of itself. Matters not when it came out. What matters is that you enjoy it! Anything goes in fashion! as long as its tastefully and properly executed. So concern yourself less with what's new and what everyone else is doing and be a Trendsetter yourself! Also want to say thanks to all that read my pulses I really put alot of myself into it! Stay fly and stay true! Music: the Help Soundtrack

THE HELP has been getting rave reviews by critics and movie goers, alike. The best selling novel turned feature film is a story that audiences of all ages and backgrounds can go and see. Both entertaining and thought provoking, THE HELP also boasts a superb soundtrack led by the single "The Living Proof" by Mary J Blige.
