Causes: My Fellow American

At Purse & Pulse, we have a strong focus on bringing you lifestyle news, tips and trends that we hope are useful and meaningful to your daily lives. Within the scope of our content (beauty, music, fashion, technology, food and film) we love to feature media that aspires to make a positive difference in the world- which is why we are adding a new dedicated category entitled Causes. We are honored to share our first Pulse on Causes for the film/social media project: My Fellow American (thank you Elizabeth Potter for the submission!)

Here is some information about My Fellow American from their website:

My Fellow American is an online film and social media project that calls upon concerned Americans to pledge and spread a message that Muslims are our fellow Americans. It asks people of other backgrounds to pledge and share a real life story about a Muslim friend, neighbor, or colleague that they admire. Using the power of social media, My Fellow American seeks to change the narrative – from Muslims as the other, to Muslims as our fellow Americans

If you feel compelled to get involved and make a difference- go to http://myfellowamerican.us and TAKE THE PLEDGE!

Here is a great film that hopes to offer a different perspective on Muslims/Islam than what is normally portrayed: Mooz-lum (Evan Ross, Nia Long, Roger Guenveur Smith, Dorian Missick and Danny Glover). The Director (Q) happens to be the brother of a very good friend of mine. Maybe we can get him in the Purse & Pulse studio for an interview- next time he's in NYC! Q, what's up!
